The 'Costa del Sol' News Without the Boring Stuff
Spanish Vacation Rental's blog is a good place for information about upcoming events, things to do, places to see, and restaurant/bar reviews.
Personal Spy Drones are the new fun toys for adults, and they can be used in so many different situations. 2 years ago we paid good money to have a professional video crew come through our holiday rental homes in La Cala de Mijas, and it produced some excellent videos. We have had so many guests say that they decided to stay with us based on two things: Our 5 out of 5 star review on every single website we advertise our rental homes on AND the video tour of the apartment. It really gives people a great idea of what we are all about and what to expect. Yesterday we had another idea: Let’s make an aerial video tour of the apartment complex, the trip to the beach, the local market, and nearby towns. It is the 2nd or perhaps 5th generation of holiday rental video tours.
We ordered a quadcopter called DJI Phantom 2 Vision, which comes with 14 mega pixel still-camera, and 1080p30/60i HD video camera. All video is stored on a SD card, so length of video is not an issue. The flight time is 25 minutes, but people are reporting getting over 30 minutes on a regular basis.
Our first plan is to make a video where we take off from our 3rd floor terrace, perhaps with the Jacuzzi lid as a launch pad. From there we would fly out the opened glass wall, up, up and away. Perhaps a tour through the 28,000 square meter sub-tropical gardens, visit the two saltwater swimming pools, the main entrance, the outside of the garages, before heading back to the terrace. What do you think?
For a 2nd flight we were thinking of taking off from the same location before heading down the street to the beach. On the way we could show the local Lidl grocery store, the bakery on the corner, the children’s playgrounds, and then to the beach. Since the beach is long we were thinking of following beach east, towards the 16th century fortified guard tower. There are so many restaurants and cafes in this area that it might be a good time for an overview show. On the way home we would love to show off some of our favorite La Cala de Mijas bars and some excellent restaurants. If we plan it right then we will see the bi-weekly market a few minutes down the street.
That is how far we have gotten so far. Do you have any other ideas for what you would like to see? Would you recommend a different tour? We are not professional videographers and are always open for suggestions (especially if you are one). Please write your recommendations below or send it to us in an email.
